We think CS students should be allowed to chew gum during class.

Research shows chewing gum helps people concentrate and stay energized. Psychologists have said that chewing gum also helps reduce anxiety and nervousness. It is also known to help memory which is good for a big test like the U.S. Constitution. Chewing gum during class is good because students will stay on task. This should lead to more students getting higher grades.

You may be thinking students might be disruptive with it or leave it under desks instead of throwing it in the garbage. If this were to happen give the offender a silent lunch or detention. If it continues, the student loses the privilege for a week or the rest of the year.

We recognize students would have to supply their own gum and not every student can afford it. Maybe when teachers hand out prizes like candy for doing something well, they could also hand out gum.

Please consider revising this rule next year.

I now respectfully disagree with you guys, because that’s disgusting.
