Positions
There are six positions in volleyball. The first position is the setter. The setter’s job is to take the second ball and set it up for another player to spike it. The second position is outside hitter. The outside player is the one who hits and blocks on the front left side of the court. The third position is opposite hitter. The opposite hitters help with blocking the opposing teams outside hitter. The fourth position is middle blocker. Middle blocker has to be the first line of defense against the opposing team’s hits. The fifth position is Libero. They can only play on the back row of the court, and because of this, are the ideal person to receive a hit from the opposite team. The last position is defensive specialist. The defensive specialist traditionally focuses on ball control and passing and works well with the libero.
In my opinion I think the best/most fun position is outside hitter. Outside hitter gets to spike the balls and sometimes bump when it’s a short ball. I really like spiking because I think it’s fun so that is why I think the outside hitter is a fun position to play.
Why is volleyball fun to play
In my opinion volleyball is a great team sport. It is a great way to stay active and improve your fitness levels. It is also a great way to socialize with the team and make new friends. It helps you learn about teamwork and communication. You communicate with your teammates to know who is going to get the ball so you move out of the way.
Learning volleyball is really fun because you learn about bumping, setting, serving, and spiking. Volleyball is also really fun when you go against another team. It feels really exciting because you are nervous but also you feel butterflies in a good way. If you win you feel really proud of yourself and for your team. Even if you lose you still feel good because you know you tried your best.
