Guitar Should be your New Side Hobby
If you’re in need of a side hobby (preferably an instrument) you should definitely invest your money in a guitar. If you’re wondering “Why a guitar of all instruments?” well I’m here to tell you why. Guitars are usually affordable if you’re looking for a regular guitar. An acoustic guitar is around the price range of $70-$100, while electric guitars are around $80-$150 (without attachments included).
Guitar is probably one of the easiest instruments to learn in my opinion. There are two ways to learn the guitar, tabs and chords. Tabs are what I consider the “side hobby” type of way to learn the guitar, but chords are when you want to get more serious in your learning. Tabs are the visual representation of the notes in the song, while chords are notes you memorize to play on the guitar.
Diversity of Genres
There are many different genres when it comes to playing guitar, but my personal favorite is modern jazz and indie pop. A great example of modern jazz and indie pop is Wave to Earth and Laufey. I love the soft strumming of the guitar and the lyrics. I also like this sort of echoey effect on the electric guitar. A great example would be “My Type of Woman” by Mac Demarco.
The biggest/only reason I love the guitar is because of the diversity of genres you can play. You could play songs with hard metal and screaming lyrics to a soft, warm song. There are so many different types of songs you can play on a guitar. You can also make the guitar have different effects. By having a pedal for electric and a capo for both electric and acoustic guitars.
