There’s no definitive way of skating. Although there are only two ways to ride your board, people have different preferences. People like to street skate, skate at parks, or find unique spots.  As long as you can imagine it, and find a way to skate it, you can. Whether you ride goofy or regular, you can still find a way to be unique and make many friends. The difference between the two is simple. Regular is where your left foot is first and use your right foot to push. Goofy is the opposite, right foot on the board and you use your left foot to push. There’s no better or worse placement, they’re the same and won’t effect how you skate. I recommend getting comfortable with both. I ride regular because it’s what I find more comfortable.  ALthough people might tell you that this style is more practical than others, do what you think is the funnest and most enjoyable.

There are many various skate brands. Unlike styles, skate brands definitely matter. Many brands specialize in different purposes, like BONES, they are mainly known for their wheel bearings, bearings matter because they’re what makes your wheels spin. The better the bearings the faster and smoother the wheels will go. There’s many brands that aren’t as good by themselves but work great. The skaters skill matters too. Since beginners are always trying new things, baker boards won’t be the best since they don’t last long and break easier. I ride a girl board because they’re reliable and sustainable. When you’re searching for a board, the size matters, your feet shouldn’t be hanging off or too small for it. The trucks matter because you shouldn’t be able able to see the trucks or most of the wheels if you’re on it.
