The Packers’ Scramble for the Playoffs

How can the Green Bay Packers make the postseason? They are currently sitting at a 6-6 record as of week 13. To make the playoffs, they would have to win out. Their upcoming opponents are the New York Giants (4-8), the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (5-7), the Carolina Panthers (1-11), the Minnesota Vikings (6-6), and the Chicago Bears (4-8). Saying this schedule is easy is an understatement.

They are currently the 7th seed, which means that if the season ended today, they would play the San Francisco 49ers (9-3). Playing the 49ers is the last opponent the Packers want to play in the playoffs. They have lost to the 49ers four times in the past 11 years of making the postseason. If the Packers win out they would be in the 6th seed or the 5th seed, which is currently occupied by the Dallas Cowboys (9-3). If they are in the 6th seed, they will likely play the Detroit Lions (9-3). In my opinion, making the 5th seed is impossible. I am hoping that the Packers will win out and play the Lions in the postseason.

Upcoming Years for the Packers

What is the future for the Packers? First of all, I think that Jordan Love has a ton of potential. He is a franchise QB. I think that they should keep Joe Barry (defensive coordinator), he just needs to improve on the run defense. I also think that the young receivers they drafted fit in well with Jordan Love.

What should they do with David Bakhtiari? I think that the Packers should trade him for a 3rd round pick. He has been battling injuries and has played only 13 games in the last 3 years. The Packers are currently paying him $21 million a year just to barely use him. Trading him will open up a ton of cap space.

Who should they draft? I think that the Packers should draft a cornerback. They recently traded Rasul Douglas to the Bills and they have an open gap for another stud cornerback. If the Packers can do those things, I think they will have a bright future.
