Are Jacksonville Jaguars Super Bowl dreams coming to life after 29 years?
Can the Jaguars make it to the Super Bowl in the next ten seasons? Before we even discuss this question we need to know a few important details whether the Jaguars even make playoffs next season and whether are they even a good team. Let’s start with if the Jaguars are good, I think they have lots of potential next season especially if they can keep Josh Allen (not the Bills quarterback) and Calvin Ridley. Allen had an excellent season breaking the Jaguars’ most sacks in a season record with 17.5 sacks. The record was originally held by Calais Campbell who had 14.5. Calvin Ridley made some amazing plays during his time with the Jaguars even though he didn’t get the ball much. The biggest issue that Jaguars fans had is that the Lawrence-Ridley connection wasn’t that strong during this season, and now with the offseason, this can give them more time to work together if he decides to stay with the Jags. But if Trevor Lawrence is a good quarterback or not, is worthy of its own blog, but I think he will improve this offseason and fix some of the main issues he had during this season.
Can they make it to the playoffs next season? If everything I wish would happen does, then the answer is yes, but there is no telling what could happen for instance, the whole team could just get injured and then go 0-17 that would surely be heartbreaking, but it isn’t out of the question it’s just really slim. It is more likely they will be a better team all around next season, especially with their draft picks albeit it is 17th overall, it can still be used for some good backup players and even maybe a few starters if they prove to be good. If they do make the playoffs again, they can make it to the divisional round again and maybe the conference championship. I think this team and all the teams in the AFC South are so extremely close to becoming big competitors for the playoffs and I can’t wait for the next season to start.
Now back to the Super Bowl, can they make it? I say they could in the next 5-6 seasons since I think Lawrence will improve over the years. As they are also so close to being a big competitor for the playoffs it would be heartbreaking to see the potential of this team go to waste. With all that being said, I think they can make it to the Super Bowl and they will improve as a whole and perhaps even become a dynasty.
Has Trevor Lawrence lived up to the hype he had before this season?
When Trevor Lawrence was a quarterback at Clemson he was looking to be a good quarterback and was going to be a franchise QB for the team that drafted him. Unfortunately in the 2023-24 NFL season, Trevor Lawrence only put up some decent stats. Placing 10th with 4,016 all-purpose yards, tied for 15th with 21 touchdowns, and also tied for 110th with 14 interceptions, this led to his total quarterback ranking being 56.2 which is 17th overall. He also had an interesting fumble in week 15 against the Baltimore Ravens. When you compare this year’s stats to his last season the stats from this year were just disappointing. Although I don’t think he is a bust this season did not look good for him and other NFL fans thought the Jaguars would make the playoffs again, especially after the season Trevor had last year. He put up 4,113 all-purpose yards, 25 touchdowns, threw only 8 interceptions, and had a total quarterback rating of 95.2.
As a Jaguar fan myself, I hope that during this offseason he will improve as a QB because when the next NFL season starts, it will be his last year on his rookie contract. Although his odds of getting a contract extension are high, it really depends on how the next season goes for Trevor. I think Trevor will improve a lot this offseason as he will have more competition in the AFC South with all teams so close to being big competitors for the playoffs this should help motivate Trevor to improve and hopefully listen to some of the helpful critics. If the Jaguars do decide to resign Calvin Ridley who is a great wide receiver, and was also on suspension for gambling, this will give Trevor some more time to work with Ridley and make more amazing plays.
When I look at everything all together I think it further proves my point that he isn’t a bust, he just had a bad season, albeit it is mainly considered a bad season because of what happened last year when he made it to the playoffs and made his first Pro Bowl appearance, it isn’t the end of the road for Trevor yet because he still has one more year to go before his fate in the NFL is decided.
