The history of the Rubik’s Cube is quite simple but it has grown into an amazing product used around the world by people of all ages. Rubik’s cubes were invented in 1974 by a man named Erno Rubik who made the cube to help explain 3 dimensional geometry to his class. Erno came to realise that he did not know how to solve a Rubik’s cube. So for months straight he tried solving it until he finally completed the task. In 1975 Rubik got a patent for the magic cube.

Around 5 years later, he changed the name to the rubiks cube and that is what the name has stayed as from 1975 up until now. The first speed cube competition, the production of speed cubes continued and the cubes got better and better with more innovations such as different shapes, different mechanisms, and the addition of magnets.
