Cliff Jumping DOs and DON’Ts

The Adrenaline of Cliff Jumping

Dalton Winters, Writer

When I climb up and stand on the cliff I almost feel like I’m flying. The wind blows through my hair softly. I stand there enjoying the view and then I jump! The wind blowing harder now is kinda nice and it relaxes me than sploosh into the cold refreshing water. I walk out feeling refreshed and ready to do it all over again. That’s what it’s like to Cliff Jump. If you want to learn how to do it then I have some DOs and DON’Ts for you.

Here are some DOs. First, you need to be able to climb well and be stable with knowing how to climb. Them to learn to jump. I recommend starting from low heights. Make your body as stiff and straight as if you are a pencil also known as a Pencil Dive, a Pencil Dive is diving with YOUR FEET FIRST. Get in the water you’re jumping into so you can get used to the temp. Colder waters are more refreshing. Make sure where you are jumping in is as deep as at least 10ft. Then jump in! Once you are feeling comfortable work your way up.

Here are some DON’Ts! Do not attempt to do a backflip from higher heights when you hit the water wrong it hurts. Do not jump into shallow water. Try not to be loose when jumping and make sure you are staying straight.

That’s it! Go have fun with your new activity!
