Have you ever seen an amazing skateboarder and wanted to start? Today I’m going to explain to you how to get started. First, you want to establish your budget. You can get a pretty good beginner skateboard build for a little less than $100. If you don’t have a skate shop near you, some websites I would recommend would be SkateWarehouse.com or Shop.Ccs.com. On these websites, you can either get a pre-built complete skateboard, or you can order the parts separately. If you are a beginner and don’t want to spend a lot of money, you should get a complete. But if you have already had a skateboard before and you know what parts you like, I would recommend getting all the parts separately in order to get a completely custom skateboard that fits you perfectly.

When it comes to sizing, I personally like a 7.75” skateboard with 52mm wheels but it really is all personal preference. If you are a larger person, anywhere from a 8”- 8.25” deck should be fine. If you are more on the smaller side, you should get anywhere from a 7.5”-7.75” deck. Wheel size doesn’t matter as much as long as you are getting high quality urethane wheels. The next thing you need is bearings, these are the things that are inside of your wheels that make them able to spin. The only bearings you should be buying are Bones Reds. These are undeniably the best bearings for the price. The last thing you need are trucks. Trucks are the metal things that hold your wheels and bearings and make it possible to turn. In my opinion, I think that Thunder trucks are the best, but Independent trucks are basically the same quality. You definitely need to make sure that your trucks fit your deck size perfectly otherwise you will have a very uncomfortable time riding. Overall, all of the parts to your skateboard are personal opinion, and as a beginner, it really doesn’t matter what skateboard you use, as long as it works.
